Omega Golden Flax Seed
The "Designer Flax Seed”
It was created by researchers at North Dakota State University (NDSU) to yield higher levels of Omega 3 & 6 oils
and 10g of protein per 1/4 cup serving. It requires stringent growing criteria to produce the best
flax seed.
How do you identify Omega Golden Flax Seed?
The best way is to test it yourself
- Is it Shiny?
- Our Omega Golden Flax Seed is between 48-53% oil
- The seeds are plump - not small and flat
- Does it taste sweet and Nutty?
- Does it crunch and then get gummy?
Good
Flax Seed with plenty of fiber and omgea 3 oil will start crunchy and then be
gummy.
What is the difference between Golden Flax Seed & Brown Flax Seed?
- There are at least 3 types of Golden Flax Seed. Omega and Carter yellow varieties with High Omega 3, and Solin of Canada a low
omega 3 type.
NDSU department of plant sciences.
- There is no difference in the nutrient value or taste of high quality Brown or Omega Golden Flax Seed.

What are Americans most important Food & Health concerns?
- 62% of Americans made a strong or some effort to reduce total fat, 50% cholesterol, 33% hydrogenated fat, and 33% trans fats
- Per-capita consumption of added fats and oils rose 67% in last 30 yrs!

BIOFUEL FOR THE BRAIN
- Essential Fatty Acids(EFAs)
EFAs - The Essential Building Materials – To build brain cells you need fatty acids. Two kinds of fatty acids
are considered "essential," which means you must get these essential fatty acids from the food
you eat. Your body cannot manufacture them.
The first essential fatty acid you need is Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is the foundation of the
"omega-3" family of fatty acids. Food sources of omega-3 ALA include flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts,
sea vegetables, and green leafy vegetables.
The second essential fatty acid you need is Linoleic acid (LA). LA is the foundation
of the "omega-6" family of fatty acids. Food sources of
omega-6 LA include flaxseeds, expeller cold-pressed sunflower, safflower,
corn, and sesame oils.
From ALA and LA, your brain can make (docosahexaenoic acid) DHA
and (arachidonic acid) AA the longer chained fatty acids that are incorporated in its cell membranes. The ability of the brain to
assemble these fatty acids can be compromised by stress, infections, alcohol, excess sugar,
and vitamin or mineral deficiencies – factors common today. The Franklin Institute Online
Low rates of Depression in societies with high consumption of EFAs
Scientists at the National Institutes of Health associated the increase
in depression in North America during the last century with the decline in consumption of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)
during the same period. Although many stresses of modern life contribute to the prevalence of depression,
Joseph R. Hibbeln, M.D., and Norman Salem, Jr., Ph.D., concluded in 1995 that the relative deficiencies
in essential fatty acids may also intensify vulnerability to depression.
They also pointed to lower rates of major
depression in societies that consume large amounts of fish, a key dietary source of DHA. North American and European
populations showed cumulative rates of depression 10 times greater than a Taiwanese population that consumed a lot of fish.
The Japanese, whose diet is rich in fish, have a significantly lower prevalence of depression
compared to North America and Europe.
Journal of Affective Disorders 1996;38:35-46
Researchers at the University Hospital in Antwerp Belgium found
that seriously depressed patients had lower omega-3 fatty acid levels than mildly depressed patients
While flax was utilized in human nutrition for
approximately 5,000 years, Omega Golden Flax Seed was recently developed into an high-nutrition crop rich
in dietary fiber, very high in essential omega 3 fatty acids, alpha-linolenic
acid (ALA) and very high in vitamins and minerals. Ag Marketing Resource Center, Iowa State University.9/2003

Nutritionally
Valuable Omega Golden Flax Seed A nutritionally Complex food,
analysis of Flax Seed reveals the high concentration of alpha linoleic
acid (ALA) an omega-3 essential fatty acid and fiber, lignan and other
vitamins and minerals suggests that Flax Seed helps reduce cholesterol,
fight cancer and reduce blood glucose levels.
